About The Position
The Busser assists food servers in maintaining service efficiency and guest satisfaction by keeping the front-of-the-house clean and properly supplied. The role includes greeting guests, communicating with hosts and waitstaff, preparing beverages, clearing and resetting tables, and returning dirty items to dishwashing areas. All tables are the busser’s responsibility, not just those in a particular section. Tables must be cleared and reset in the specified manner, using a tray to remove dishes and a linen-covered tray to bring glassware and other items to the table. Items must not touch the busser’s body or clothing. The Summit back wait station is the main station for dirty dishes and resetting tables in the Summit dining room. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High school education.
- No previous food service experience is required.
- Ability to stand and exert fast-paced mobility for periods of up to four hours.
- Ability to lift, bend, and stoop.
- Ability to frequently lift and carry bus tubs, trays, and other objects weighing 25 pounds or more.
Responsibilities
- Greet guests appropriately.
- Communicate with the host/hostess and waitstaff to maintain service efficiency and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the front-of-the-house, including tables, chairs, floors, and windows.
- Restock the dining room with silverware, glassware, utensils, condiments, and linen; maintain adequate supplies at workstations when the dining room opens.
- Prepare beverages for service, including coffee and iced tea.
- Remove dirty dishes and utensils from tables between courses and clear tables after guests leave.
- Replace dishes and utensils for the next course and clean and reset vacated tables.
- Return dirty dishes, silverware, glassware, and utensils to the dishwashing area.
- Assist waitstaff in serving tables with hot beverages, such as coffee, when needed.
- Shine silverware and glasses during slower periods.
- Wipe down the wall behind the bus cart during each wait period.
- Dump all slop buckets.
- Stock and shine designated items.
- Stock coffee cups.
- Roll silverware.
- Clear and reset all tables, using a tray to clear dishes and a linen-covered tray to bring glassware and other items to the table.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
