About The Position

The Business Systems Manager owns the data pipelines that bring information in from company systems and external vendors, the Power BI environment, and the reporting and analysis requested by internal teams. The role uses AI tooling to produce queries, models, reports, and scripts, while applying strong data knowledge and judgment to specify work precisely, critically review results, and verify accuracy before information is used for decisions. This role is fully remote, with the ability to work Pacific Time hours as needed highly preferred. The schedule is Monday to Friday. Compensation is listed as $90,000k–$100,000k per year plus benefits.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL skills, including writing and debugging queries against a large production database and judging whether results are plausible.
  • Power BI expertise sufficient to own the environment, including models, DAX, refreshes, workspaces, and access.
  • Experience using AI assistants to produce queries, models, reports, and scripts, with the ability to review and test their outputs rather than trust them without verification.
  • Comfort with APIs and integrations, including pulling data from vendor APIs, handling scheduled files and feeds, and understanding data movement between systems.
  • Ability to read and work in C# to understand how the internal Portal handles data; the role is not the Portal's primary developer.
  • Clear written communication with non-technical staff, including explaining what a number means and does not mean.
  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, or computer science, or equivalent experience.
  • Three or more years building and supporting data and reporting systems in daily use, including hands-on ownership of a BI environment, not just report authoring.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to work Pacific Time hours as needed is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Power BI reports and dashboards for internal teams, from understanding their needs through delivery of reports they use.
  • Own the Power BI environment, including maintaining datasets, refreshes, workspaces, and access; fixing failed refreshes; and retiring reports that are no longer useful.
  • Build, monitor, and maintain data pipelines that collect and aggregate data from clinical, billing, and vendor systems into the central data warehouse.
  • Serve as the key contact with external vendors on data agreements and data exchange, including data content, format, schedule, and resolving changes or failures in feeds.
  • Collaborate with departments to turn open questions into measurable analyses and work with executives to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Establish KPIs that measure the effectiveness of business decisions, and present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Verify outputs against source data before reporting numbers to decision makers, including work produced with AI tools.
