About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst III works on projects that generally involve complex scope. The role analyzes and documents business requirements and workflows, develops file mappings and technical specifications, and works with business partners and stakeholders to prioritize requirements. The analyst assesses system capabilities and interdependencies to define and document business solutions, collaborates with the development team, and provides complex technical guidance while applying effective design concepts. The analyst proposes or seeks alternative solutions as needed to balance business and technical needs. The role assesses project scope, impact, feasibility, and business-analysis approaches; elicits and documents stakeholder needs; and develops requirements and use cases that support technical design and solution development. The analyst collaborates with business and technology teams through design, programming, and testing, creates testing documentation and queries, validates results, and supports defect prioritization and resolution. The role also creates user and training guides and conducts training or information sessions as needed.

Requirements

Requires 5 to 10 years of business analysis, process mapping, or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of experience writing technical specifications or equivalent experience.
At least 5 years of data analysis experience in an information technology operating environment or equivalent experience.
Excellent understanding of data warehousing concepts, relational databases, and their business applicability in healthcare management.
Intermediate knowledge of SQL and relational technology, with proficient query-writing experience or equivalent experience.
Two years of healthcare industry experience required.

Responsibilities

Analyze project scope, impact, and feasibility within defined time and cost constraints, and assist with project scoping documents.
Help determine the appropriate approach to business analysis and define project-specific outcomes and deliverables.
Elicit stakeholder business needs and concerns using methods such as interviews and desired-state process workflows.
Facilitate and document requirements-gathering sessions with business representatives and subject-matter experts.
Manage conflicts and competing demands, escalating more difficult issues to project managers, managers, or senior colleagues.
Use business acumen to ask probing questions and shape solutions to difficult problems.
Define and document sufficiently detailed business requirements to support customer sign-off and completion of the Technical Design Document.
Develop comprehensive use cases and validate them with customers.
Collaborate with the Development Team to identify data requirements and mappings, establish design and testing approaches, and provide suggestions and feedback.
Work with the Design and Development Team during technical design, programming, and initial testing.
Collaborate with the business to develop a high-level testing plan based on documented requirements.
Create comprehensive test plans and testing queries, document test results, validate outputs against requirements, and identify defects.
Work with the Development Team to understand defect effort and with the project team to prioritize and resolve defects.
Create user and training guides and conduct training and information sessions for user groups as needed.
