About The Position

The Business Systems Analyst I documents, installs, analyzes, and/or maintains operating system(s) used for the business purpose of assigned area. Provides technical support and training to users concerning system software and utilities. Serves as subject matter expert for system. Serves as liaison to the central Office of Information Technology (OIT) for advanced support needs. Serves as a technical resource for Student Financial Aid within Enrollment Management, a division of Academic Affairs. Works with the Banner student system and other technologies/solutions utilized by The University of Alabama and The US Department of Education. Performs complex computer programming tasks under general supervision from the senior information technology leader within Student Financial Aid. Provides staff with technology support, data requests using ARGOS, Job Submission, and other report development and delivery tools and assists staff in developing and writing of financial aid rules and population selections. Develops, tests, and maintains automated financial aid processing solutions and Banner workflow. Maintains complete inventory of all Financial Aid related automated processes, jobs, and reports and the related schedules including Automic process flows and 1000+ Automic jobs. Executes automated phone call services and email communications for students, parents, and alumni using RAVE ALERT software and produces reports for follow-up and statistical data. Provides reporting data that is required by federal and state agencies to include the Fiscal Operations Report, which is a detailed report of expenditures for the previous year and surveys and data requests, such as the Common Data Set, UA Factbook and Peterson Survey.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree; OR associate's degree and two (2) years of IT experience; OR High school diploma or GED and four (4) years of IT experience.
  • Knowledge of advanced programming, networking, system, multimedia, instructional or security technology skills or knowledge of project management methods and applications.
  • Proficiency in MS Word Excel.

  • Experience with Banner and Argos reporting.
