About The Position

This position requires an active USAccess clearance. The Business Support Specialist provides administrative, budgetary, and logistical support to the Center Administrative staff. This role is critical in managing office operations, coordinating meetings, assisting with financial documentation, and performing various routine administrative tasks to ensure smooth operations within the office.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in administrative, financial, accounting, or budget analysis roles.
  • Proficient typing skills.
  • Familiarity with PC-based systems and email programs.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable using Internet Explorer or similar browsers.
  • Ability to work as part of a team, managing changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must pass pre-employment qualifications of Cherokee Federal.

Nice To Haves

  • Applicable training on GOV systems and software will be provided.
  • Three or more years of experience with USGS policies, procedures, systems, and programs preferred.
  • This role provides critical administrative support to over 100 LMGWSC scientists and managers.
  • Responsibilities include occasional travel (driving personal/government vehicles, typically short distances, rarely longer trips), independently completing complex, multi-step assignments, and problem-solving beyond existing guidelines.
  • This work requires advanced subject-matter knowledge and judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate office logistics, meetings, and receptionist duties for the Center Administrative staff.
  • Assist in budget report preparation, labor adjustments, and journal voucher processing for the Center Administrative staff.
  • Help with filing, reporting, and managing documentation for special accounts.
  • Use specific software to adjust budgets, reconcile credit card statements, maintain purchasing logs, and coordinate statement routing for approval.
  • Receive and process monthly invoices from non-referencing vendors, ensuring all documentation is complete, accurate, and adheres to DOI USGS Survey Manual guidelines.
  • Perform routine administrative tasks, assist co-workers and managers, and interact professionally with Center employees. Operate office equipment and complete general office work.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
