About The Position

As part of the Capital Markets Operations team, the Business Specialist is accountable for reconciliation and reporting of various accounts within CIBC using the Smartstream Reconciliation application as well as defined manual processes. The Business Specialist must demonstrate strong technical and system knowledge to review and analyze data to ensure quality assurance of transactions and maintain customer satisfaction. In addition, the role assists in the management of day-to-day operation and overall efficiency of the unit, while seeking opportunities to streamline existing processes and procedures. The successful candidate will perform a range of specialized functions using some independent judgment; investigate as required to complete internal and external partner requests and contribute to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the Central Reconciliation team. You will maintain effective operational controls and minimize operational risks, including audit-related risks, while consistently meeting all Service Level Agreements (SLAs).

Responsibilities

  • Ensure accuracy of client realized gain/loss (RGL) through client account reporting
  • Reconcile data between source and reporting systems; manage daily operational processing
  • Perform administrative duties, including preparation and maintenance of month-end returns, overrides, and procedural manuals, ensuring policy compliance
  • Collaborate with management to resolve issues, maximize operational efficiency, and ensure compliance for assigned product lines
  • Document research, analysis, and calculations for use by others, including reports and recommendations
