About The Position
This is a high-visibility role at the center of AEP’s electric transmission business. The position reports directly to the Managing Director of Transmission Finance and works closely with the President of AEP Transmission and the Transmission Leadership Team. The successful candidate will support executive decision-making and strategic planning by turning complex business information into clear, compelling insights for senior executives, the AEP Board of Directors, and external stakeholders. The role spans strategy, operations, finance, workforce planning, and enterprise initiatives. It offers direct executive exposure and the opportunity to contribute to strategic decisions, Board-level communications, and the long-term direction of the Transmission organization. The role is on-site in New Albany, Ohio.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering, Communications, or a related field.
- Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to distill complex information into clear, concise, and compelling messages.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
- Executive presence and ability to interact effectively with senior leaders.
- High degree of professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
Nice To Haves
- Experience supporting C-suite or senior executive leaders within a large organization.
- Background in Investor Relations, Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, Mergers & Acquisitions, Investment Banking, Private Equity, Executive Communications, or Technical Writing.
- Experience developing Board of Director materials, executive presentations, or strategic communications.
- Advanced PowerPoint storytelling and executive presentation development skills.
- Experience working in fast-paced, high-performance environments with significant executive visibility.
Responsibilities
- Partner across Transmission, Distribution, Human Resources, Finance, and other corporate organizations to gather, validate, and synthesize business information.
- Identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities and translate findings into concise executive-level insights and recommendations.
- Develop clear, actionable reporting and analytics to support executive decision-making.
- Serve as a primary author and coordinator for monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc presentations delivered by the President of AEP Transmission.
- Develop Board-level materials, executive briefings, conference presentations, strategic updates, and other high-profile communications.
- Translate complex technical, operational, financial, and strategic information into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Ensure consistency, accuracy, and executive-level quality across materials presented to internal and external stakeholders.
- Support the ongoing development, refresh, and advancement of non-financial components of the Transmission Annual Plan.
- Collaborate with the SVP Finance of Transmission and senior leadership to align strategic priorities, performance metrics, and business objectives.
- Assist in evaluating strategic initiatives, organizational priorities, and business transformation opportunities.
- Drive special projects and executive requests that support the long-term success of the Transmission organization.
