About The Position

Johnson Controls, a global leader in thermal management, mission-critical building systems, energy efficiency, and decarbonization, is seeking a Business Partner - Sales Learning. This role is responsible for leading the delivery and execution of successful training solutions for both newly hired and tenured sales team members. The position involves collaborating with key partners to design detailed training modules, deliver program sessions, measure effectiveness, and drive continuous improvement. The ideal candidate will possess strong business acumen, sales experience, project management skills, and facilitation experience in developing blended learning solutions for a fast-paced environment. This role is critical in building the selling, solutioning, and customer relationship skills of the Sales organization, including analyzing assessments and reports to provide feedback to leadership. It also involves building a continuum of learning and skill-building for the Sales organization and supporting field technical training needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Instructional Design, Education, Adult Learning, Engineering, or related learning or technical discipline.
  • 5+ years in Sales or Operations Training, Sales Engineering and/or Sales Enablement role.
  • 4+ years in Training Development and Delivery.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity and able to adapt and change to meet business needs.
  • Ability to flex on time due to global team collaboration.
  • Attention to detail is crucial for impactful outcomes.
  • Ability to build true partnerships with other learning designers, program managers, and business partners.
  • Willingness to assume authority, take risks, and set clear goals for career development.
  • Possess personal ethics, do quality work, and maintain a positive attitude.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly grasp how building environments are created and business lines organized.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.
  • Reside within the Eastern and Central time zones of the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Previous Sales and Operations training experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, Fire, and Security equipment and related technologies, products, and market is a huge plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery and execution of successful training solutions aligned with the specific needs of JCI’s newly hired and tenured sales team members.
  • Collaborate in the design of detailed training modules to meet overall program goals.
  • Deliver program sessions and measure program effectiveness.
  • Drive continuous improvement in training programs.
  • Analyze assessments and reports to provide feedback to leadership.
  • Build a continuum of learning and skill building for the Sales organization.
  • Support field technical training needs as required.
  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders within stakeholder departments, including Management and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
  • Build and monitor training roadmap for specific roles with area of focus.
  • Design training programs for new hire and tenured employees within roles, leveraging content with peer Sales, Sales Trainers, and partnering with global team members.
  • Provide blended learning solutions for learners that can be easily updated and repurposed to stay current with product, sales tools, and process changes.
  • Participate in the update and continuous development of sales learning curriculum and learning journeys.
  • Project manage training sessions as part of larger sales programs, interfacing with internal and external partners.
  • Deliver learning sessions, including live classroom sessions and web-based learning sessions (synchronous or asynchronous).
  • Flex instruction and facilitation styles and approaches to fit the needs of the audience, content, and technology.
  • Facilitate learning of materials, processes, and systems.
  • Develop subject matter expertise in new sales methodologies, technology, products, or processes and be the subject matter expert in the development of learning materials.
  • Arrange for an appropriate learning environment for the presentation of material.
  • Evaluate existing programs for effectiveness and redesign solutions when necessary.
  • Leverage a variety of measurement and evaluation techniques to obtain and use data to drive learning curriculum impact.
  • Measure results of sales training using appropriate methods for determining participant reaction, amount of learning, and ability to demonstrate new skills.
  • Report results of measurements and evaluations to appropriate Program Leaders, Learning and Development Managers.
  • Develop and present recommendations for continuous improvements to sales and business training.
  • Provide constructive feedback to learners on their understanding of new materials and their performance.
  • Maintain records, prepare reports and correspondence as required.
  • Continuously update and improve delivery and coaching skills, including the use of new technologies for sharing knowledge and building skills.
  • Collaborate with and support a strong global team environment.
  • Leverage innovative learning technologies and platforms to deploy learning, including the Johnson Controls Learning Hub, LMS (Learning Management System), and uLearn.
  • Maintain current knowledge of trends and issues in learning design, training, and technical field operations.
  • Act as a thought leader and find ways to iterate on solutions.
  • Collaborate with team members on design and development.
