About The Position

Work directly with privately held, owner-led businesses to improve operational performance, financial controls, and long-term profitability. Cogent Analytics primarily serves contracting, manufacturing, wholesale and distribution, transportation and logistics, technology, and architecture and engineering industries. Business Consultant Project Directors act as hands-on implementation partners to owners, working on-site with owners and employees to solve business problems and deliver measurable results. The role requires 100% domestic travel. Assignments may involve improving cash flow and margins, strengthening sales processes, increasing operational efficiency, establishing financial controls, and building management accountability. The Project Director implements practical systems, coaches owners and employees, and helps teams sustain improvements after an engagement ends. Success requires sound business judgment, financial acumen, and the ability to earn trust and lead change in businesses where resources may be limited, processes may be informal, and owners are closely involved in daily operations. The role is focused on delivering quantifiable, sustainable value reflected in clients’ income statements, balance sheets, cash flow, and quality of life. This is accomplished by developing, implementing, training, and evaluating solutions to client challenges. Project Directors oversee identifying and communicating work to be completed for clients and communicate clearly with the assigned Assistant Director or Senior Project Director. All new Project Directors begin as 1099 contractors for a minimum of 90 days, serving as a mutual evaluation period. After successful completion, they may be reviewed for transition to a full-time W-2 employee role with comprehensive benefits. Compensation is based on billable client work, with earning potential tied to performance and project engagement. Travel is covered by the company.
