About the position
The Business Intelligence (BI) Engineer role at OpenTable is responsible for developing and optimizing the data infrastructure to support business decisions. This includes designing data models, building data pipelines, and ensuring data accuracy and security. The role also involves creating data dashboards and visualizations to provide insights into key business metrics. The ideal candidate should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proficiency in SQL and programming languages, and experience with relational databases. Responsibilities
- Capture and analyze business requirements to design data models and build data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL)
- Collaborate with business partners and technical teams to ensure data accuracy, integrity, consistency, and security
- Build and manage data dashboards, reports, and visualizations that provide insight into key business metrics
- Identify opportunities to streamline data workflows through automation
- Evaluate new data sources and tools to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the team
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data processes and methodologies
Requirements
- 2+ years of work in data analytics or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to translate complex data into useful insights for technical and non-technical partners
- Proficient in SQL and one or more programming languages such as Python or R
- Experience with Snowflake or any other relational database
