About The Position

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Business Intelligence (BI) Analyst will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enhancing United Heritage Credit Union's enterprise reporting and business intelligence capabilities. This role serves as the primary resource for reporting and analytics, partnering with business units to define data requirements and support the full reporting lifecycle. The Business Intelligence Analyst will utilize tools such as Microsoft Power BI, enterprise data warehouse platforms, and data integration technologies to transform complex data into meaningful, user-friendly reports and dashboards that improve organizational visibility, automate reporting processes, and support operational and strategic decision-making. This position will be fully on-site at our offices in Austin, TX.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Business Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of professional experience in business intelligence, data analysis, reporting, or a related analytical role.
  • Demonstrated experience working with business intelligence platforms such as Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools.
  • Experience working with relational databases and querying data using SQL or comparable data query languages.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and translate findings into meaningful business insights.
  • Experience building dashboards, reports, and data visualizations that support operational or strategic decision-making.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into technical reporting solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, validation, and quality control.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Must be bondable.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of experience in business intelligence, enterprise reporting, data analytics, or a related analytical role supporting business decision-making.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, including dashboard development, data modeling, DAX calculations, data transformations, and report optimization.
  • Familiarity with credit union operations or comparable financial services processes, including experience with SQL, SSIS, and ETL workflows.
  • Programming experience, with proficiency in languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python, or similar for data manipulation and analytics.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data sets and solve challenging business problems using quantitative and analytical methods.
  • Skilled in manipulating large data sets, building statistical models, and performing advanced data analysis to support decision-making.
  • Experienced in documenting user requirements and developing front-end BI applications or dashboards according to defined specifications and stakeholder needs.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze Data and Report Findings: Design, develop, and maintain interactive dashboards, reports, and data visualization using Microsoft Power BI and other BI tools to support operational, strategic, and executive decision-making.
  • Analyze and interpret data from multiple enterprise systems to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities that improve business performance and operational efficiency.
  • Manage the full reporting lifecycle including data acquisition, consolidation, cleansing, validation, report preparation, and dashboard development.
  • Research and develop analytical models to address complex business challenges using data from multiple technologies and enterprise systems.
  • Maintain and support existing reports, dashboards, and analytical tools, ensuring accuracy, reliability, and ongoing alignment with business needs.
  • Document reporting processes, data definitions, and development methodologies to ensure knowledge continuity and maintain consistent reporting standards.
  • Extract, query, and analyze data from the enterprise data warehouse and other internal systems to support reporting and analytical initiatives.
  • Design and maintain optimized data models and datasets within Power BI, ensuring efficient performance and scalable analytics solutions.
  • Explore and evaluate emerging analytics technologies, including artificial intelligence, predictive analytics, and automation, to enhance reporting efficiency and data-driven insights.
  • Build Partnerships and Collaborate: Serve as a liaison between UHCU business units, Power BI power users, and technology partners to define data elements, reporting requirements, and data validation standards.
  • Partner with business units to gather, document, and translate reporting and analytics requirements into actionable dashboards, reports, and presentations.
  • Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives, organizational planning, and executive reporting.
  • Provide guidance and training to internal users on available dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics tools to promote data literacy and effective use of business intelligence resources.
  • Assist in the standardization of key performance indicators (KPIs), metrics, and reporting frameworks that support data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal technology teams to coordinate maintenance schedules, system updates, and enhancements to the BI environment, ensuring accuracy and stability of reporting systems.
  • Manage the intake, evaluation, and prioritization process for new reporting, dashboards, and analytics requests in coordination with leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Provide Data Governance and Quality Assurance: Validate and maintain data integrity within the BI environment, including performing master data validation when integrating new systems, reports, or data sources.
  • Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory requirements when handling member and UHCU data.
  • Partner with IT and Compliance to implement data security and governance best practices, ensuring BI data is collected, stored, and used in compliance with internal policies and industry regulations.
