About The Position

Wellmark is seeking a Business Initiatives Consultant, with the role also open at the Senior Business Initiatives Consultant level, to help advance its enterprise AI strategy. The position translates strategic AI priorities into coordinated execution, responsible adoption, and measurable business outcomes. Working across business and technology functions, the consultant provides oversight, governance, and strategic enablement for AI initiatives, aligning organizational objectives, technology capabilities, risk management, and investment decisions. The role drives accountability and decision-making through Wellmark’s AI governance structure and partners with executive leaders, business stakeholders, technology teams, and external partners. It converts strategic direction into actionable roadmaps; establishes frameworks to measure adoption and business value; coordinates vendor evaluations and strategic initiatives; and helps ensure the technology, data, workforce, and operational capabilities needed for success are in place. The consultant leads through influence and partnerships rather than direct authority, building stakeholder alignment, supporting responsible AI adoption, removing execution barriers, and providing visibility into progress, outcomes, and value realization. The posting also lists technical architecture and solution responsibilities, including contributing to design and planning for complex application platforms, consulting with architects and project teams, supporting architecture governance and IT policies, and providing technical guidance, training, and mentorship. Travel may be required up to 5 percent. The position requires a non-compete agreement.
