About The Position

eBay is seeking a Business Development Manager to drive eBay's position within the Collectibles vertical. This role is responsible for building, leading, and delivering the end-to-end acquisition pipeline to optimize the selection of brands and inventory on the eBay platform for customers. The ideal candidate will have strong contacts in Collectibles, Trading Cards, Coins, Toys, or Comics, a proven marketplace background in acquiring brands and sellers that customers love, and an energetic, innovative approach with fresh ideas. Key interfaces include Category Managers, Horizontal Trading, Marketing Strategy & Operations, Merchant Integration Solutions, and Risk & Trust.

Requirements

  • eCommerce & Marketplaces knowledge: a validated background and understanding of the marketplaces/platform and resale market, its competitors and supporting businesses (i.e. listing management; integrators; logistics; customer services) with a clear point of view on what is required for our partners to succeed in this space.
  • New business & commercial expertise: experience in developing new business for a large organization, having worked with e-commerce commercial teams and consistently delivered results optimally even under challenging circumstances.
  • Relationship management: builds and sustains relationships across all functions and levels internally in the organization, to ensure flawless integration and detailed execution of plans.
  • The ability to apply influencing and negotiation skills with external businesses to build and maintain mutually beneficial commercial relations – with a deep understanding of brand, seller & partner needs, challenges and opportunities for growth.
  • Strategic & Analytical orientation: a keen strategic and analytical problem solver with the knack of sifting through detail, and putting complex ideas into clear frameworks.
  • Insists on proof in data, peeling back layers to understand root causes, and uses data to drive innovation and decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Identify targets and a network of contacts for both short and long-term acquisition of businesses new to eBay.
  • Run a significant sales pipeline, providing a constant stream of new inventory to the site from brands & sellers for the ‘Trading’ function.
  • Leverage regular promotional cycles to deliver on a range of critical metrics and success measures.
  • Work with newly onboarded brands and sellers to ensure their readiness to trade and optimize the full trading capability of the platform.
  • Build and expand partnerships with marketplace agencies/service providers who have limited presence on eBay today to further drive seller and inventory acquisition.
  • Constantly innovate and develop the operating model to keep pace with the evolving e-commerce and commerce market.
  • Build the team’s execution and operational capability.
  • Drive procedural change and business performance.
