About The Position

Albers Aerospace is seeking a Business Development Manager to develop customer relationships and grow opportunities across our industrial manufacturing, specialty metal coatings, and specialized container businesses. This individual will identify, qualify, support capture of, and help close opportunities with U.S. Government customers, defense prime contractors, and commercial aerospace partners requiring precision manufacturing, specialty metal finishing, complex subsystem integration, and purpose-built storage and shipping solutions. The Business Development Manager will manage an assigned opportunity pipeline from early customer engagement through contract award. Working with operations, engineering, contracts, finance, pricing, quality, and business development leadership, this individual will translate customer needs into executable solutions and coordinate compliant proposals. The role represents the full breadth of Albers capabilities while focusing on precision manufacturing and specialized containers. The ideal candidate combines practical aerospace and defense business-development experience with the speed, initiative, and hands-on accountability required in a rapidly growing small business. We need a collaborative relationship builder with sound business judgment and a warfighter-first mindset who follows disciplined growth practices without adding unnecessary bureaucracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related field; equivalent military or industry experience may be considered
  • Minimum 5 years of business development, sales, capture, account management, or related program experience in aerospace, defense, Federal contracting, or industrial manufacturing
  • Experience identifying, qualifying, supporting capture of, and helping close Government or prime-contractor opportunities involving manufactured products, technical subsystems, or complex services
  • Working knowledge of U.S. Government procurement and defense-prime sourcing processes, including FAR/DFARS environments, solicitations, proposals, pricing, compliance, and contract flow-downs
  • Ability to coordinate cross-functional capture and proposal teams and communicate effectively with executives, engineers, manufacturing leaders, contracts, finance, pricing, and customers
  • Ability to travel frequently, maintain CRM and forecast discipline, and obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance; U.S. Citizenship required

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or advanced education in business, engineering, acquisition, or strategy
  • 7+ years of relevant experience, including responsibility for defense or aerospace growth campaigns or strategic accounts
  • Established contacts with DoD program offices, acquisition organizations, depots, laboratories, or Tier 1 primes such as Boeing, RTX, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop Grumman
  • Shipley, APMP, or comparable capture and proposal training; experience with contract vehicles, IDIQs, OTAs, and supplier qualification processes
  • Experience with precision machining, aerospace manufacturing, specialty metal coatings or finishing processes, quality systems, producibility, specialized containers, packaging, or weapons-system logistics
  • Active DoD security clearance; experience in both a large defense prime and a high-growth small business

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute assigned account and market growth plans for precision manufacturing, specialty metal coatings and finishing, aerospace and defense subsystems, and specialized weapon-system containers.
  • Build, qualify, and maintain a measurable pipeline of assigned opportunities aligned with company strategy, capacity, capabilities, and financial objectives.
  • Use existing relationships and develop new contacts with U.S. Government organizations, program offices, depots, laboratories, and Tier 1 aerospace and defense prime contractors to generate qualified opportunities.
  • Create new relationships through targeted outreach, industry associations, conferences, trade shows, customer visits, and strategic networking; develop trusted-advisor credibility with technical, contracting, and executive stakeholders.
  • Represent all Albers business capabilities accurately and confidently, connecting customer requirements to manufacturing, engineering, integration, special mission aircraft, R&D, and logistics solutions as appropriate.
  • Lead or support qualification, capture planning, competitive assessment, win strategy, teaming, solution development, and gate reviews for assigned pursuits.
  • Coordinate the proposal process across operations, engineering, contracts, finance, pricing, quality, supply chain, HR, and business development leadership.
  • Develop and coordinate compliant proposal content, past performance, basis-of-estimate inputs, and customer presentations; track schedules, actions, reviews, and approvals.
  • Navigate Federal acquisition and defense-prime procurement processes, including FAR/DFARS environments, solicitations, contract vehicles, source-selection practices, flow-down requirements, export controls, and supplier onboarding.
  • Build account intelligence on customer budgets, requirements, acquisition timelines, competitors, incumbents, and decision makers; convert intelligence into actionable pursuit strategies and realistic forecasts.
  • Partner with manufacturing and container operations to confirm capacity, technical feasibility, schedule, quality, and cost assumptions before customer commitments are made.
  • Use established business development rhythms, pipeline metrics, CRM discipline, and repeatable capture practices; recommend practical improvements as the company grows.
  • Provide forecasts, pursuit status, risks, resource needs, and recommendations to business development leadership; contribute to a collaborative, accountable growth culture.
