About The Position

Newport News Behavioral Health Center is a 132-bed intensive and highly structured residential treatment facility for the psychiatric and behavioral health needs of adolescent males and females ages 7-17. The center features an on-site certified school, therapists, and vocational programming. The Business Development Community Liaison develops relationships at all levels of their customer base, establishing themselves as a credible, reliable, and valued resource. This role requires knowledge of residential treatment and acute care programs, and the ability to facilitate and support referrals through the admissions process. The Liaison implements the facility's business development plan to meet or exceed referral and admission goals within their assigned geographic territory by focusing on developing and managing productive, long-term referral relationships with existing and new referral sources. This position involves daily travel, including overnight stays, and meeting with referral sources such as hospitals/ERs, DSS, Court Service Units, psychiatrists, psychologists, other private providers, CSBs, schools, and other community resources.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelors in Marketing, Business Administration, Behavioral Science, or related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience directly related to mental health care marketing in hospitals or managed care environments.
  • A strong client service background is mandatory.
  • Has proven record in business development and sales.
  • Ability to effectively manage time.
  • Must exercise good judgment and have extremely high business ethics, be flexible, and adaptable, polite and customer service oriented.
  • Accuracy is mandatory in all aspects of position.
  • Knowledge in areas of marketing and business development in healthcare and in managed care required.
  • Working knowledge of public relations, communications, media relations and event planning.
  • Understanding of behavioral sciences and the objectives of mental health treatment in inpatient and outpatient settings is required.
  • Excellent oral, written and analytical skills are mandatory.
  • Must have strong public speaking skills and be able to present materials in a clear and concise manner.
  • Superior interpersonal skills are necessary for successful performance in this role.
  • Must be computer literate and be able to operate simple machinery necessary to perform duties such as a computer, copy machines, calculator, typewriters, VCR, camcorder, television, camera, overhead projector, etc.
  • Must possess solid ethical standards in relation to all aspects of business development.
  • Must demonstrate superior leadership abilities and direct a marketing teams, establish priorities and successfully plan, develop, implement, coordinate and manage marketing systems.
  • Driver's License Required.

Responsibilities

  • Develops/Outlines a quarterly seasonal action plan and meets with supervisor quarterly for updates and modifications of plan. Include holiday referral development plan, fall and spring school campaigns.
  • Must have ability to assist in the implementation of marketing programs and strategies.
  • Accurately qualifies accounts as High, Medium, or Low for business potential.
  • Identifies Top Ten Referral Sources quarterly.
  • Develops new leads/accounts and maintains an updated profile of assigned accounts with current activity.
  • Manage existing customer relationships within accounts.
  • Ensures that Service AI Contact Records are updated and completed monthly, along with month-end report.
  • Maintains a weekly number of qualified business development face-to-face meetings and contacts (number of contacts assigned by DBD).
  • Daily monitors the referral and admission case management of referrals for his/her territories.
  • This includes but is not limited to; tracking the progress of the initial review of referrals by NNBHC, assisting with getting additional information, and facilitating the admission of the youth to the facility.
  • Meets or exceeds monthly and annual performance goals/expectations for referrals/admissions.
  • Contacts customers utilizing services within the first month of placement, with regular contact monthly as appropriate, to inquire about satisfaction with services and need for other services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned/required by this position.
