About The Position

At Raymond James, we develop, we collaborate, we decide, we deliver, and we improve together. Raymond James Ltd. is Canada’s leading independent investment dealers offering high quality investment products and services to Canadians seeking customized solutions to their wealth management needs. This role is for a Business Development Associate in Downtown Vancouver. It is suitable for individuals with experience in fund wholesaling, asset management desks, or inside sales, who are ready to build a career on the advice side of the business. The associate will work directly with senior Investment Advisors and Portfolio Managers at our downtown Vancouver office, learning how a full-service independent firm operates while owning a real pipeline from day one. Raymond James emphasizes investing in early-career talent, providing real responsibility, and clearing a path forward, treating advisors as clients of the firm.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of outbound calling or inside sales experience — you are comfortable making structured, high-volume outreach daily without needing to be motivated to pick up the phone
  • Proven, measurable track record of hitting or exceeding targets in a metrics-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills — clear, confident, and consultative; you listen as well as you talk
  • Genuine interest in financial markets, investment products, and wealth planning — prospects in Vancouver are sophisticated and will test your knowledge quickly
  • Post-secondary degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field (equivalent experience considered)
  • Currently enrolled in or willing to complete the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) within 6 months of start — Raymond James covers the cost

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a mutual fund wholesaler or internal sales rep (ISR) at an asset manager, fund company, or bank investment platform
  • Familiarity with CIRO registration requirements, know-your-client obligations, and the compliance environment at a full-service dealer
  • CSC, CIFC/IFIC, CIM, CFP, or PFP already completed or in progress
  • Experience with Salesforce, Maximizer, or a structured CRM — disciplined pipeline tracking is a core expectation here
  • Existing network of financial advisors, accountants, lawyers, or HNW contacts in Metro Vancouver
  • Understanding of fee-based vs. commission advisory models, managed portfolios, ETFs, alternative investments, and registered account structures (RRSP, TFSA, RESP, RRIF)
  • Familiarity with cross-border financial planning (U.S./Canada) — a genuine differentiator in the Vancouver market

Responsibilities

  • Prospect and qualify high-net-worth individuals, business owners, and professionals throughout Metro Vancouver and BC through outbound calling, referrals, and targeted outreach
  • Book and prepare discovery meetings for senior Investment Advisors and Portfolio Managers — ensuring every meeting is well-researched, relevant, and high-value
  • Support advisors in executing their business development strategy — tracking pipeline activity, call metrics, and conversion rates in CRM
  • Conduct consultative phone conversations with prospects about their financial goals, retirement planning, and wealth transfer — positioning Raymond James's independent approach as the alternative to bank-tied advice
  • Build and own a personal prospect list from first contact through to advisor handoff
  • Coordinate client onboarding documentation, new account submissions, and compliance requirements with the operations team
  • Stay current on market developments, RJL product capabilities (including alternatives, trust services, and U.S./Canada cross-border planning), and competitive positioning
  • Represent Raymond James at community events, professional networking groups, and advisor-sponsored outreach in Vancouver's business community
