About The Position

L’Arche Antigonish is seeking a motivated, organized, and creative individual to support the development of an exciting new social enterprise initiative. This summer position will assist in launching a small printing business that aims to create meaningful casual employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities within our community. This role offers valuable hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, business operations, marketing, workflow development, and process improvement while contributing to an inclusive and community-focused organization.

Requirements

  • Strong technology and computer skills
  • Interest in business operations, entrepreneurship, marketing, administration, or project coordination
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Ability to take direction and follow through on commitments in a timely manner
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Fluency in spoken and written English

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the development of a comprehensive business plan
  • Researching and sourcing printing equipment, technology, and supplies
  • Supporting the setup of operational systems and business processes
  • Helping establish payroll and employee tracking processes
  • Assisting with inventory management and supply ordering procedures
  • Creating workflow systems for tracking customer orders, production timelines, and deadlines
  • Supporting the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and administrative processes
  • Assisting with advertising, branding, and promotional initiatives
  • Supporting customer communication and community outreach efforts
  • Helping create training materials and accessible workplace procedures
  • Teaching core members and staff how to operate printing equipment and technology
  • Communicating weekly with the Program Coordinator or designate regarding project progress and priorities
