About The Position

The Business Developer & Senior Project Manager plays a hybrid role at the intersection of market strategy, client development, and project delivery. This position is responsible for identifying and advancing new business opportunities across both public- and private‑sector markets, while also supporting or leading land development and urban redevelopment projects from concept through implementation. The role is well-suited for a professional with experience working with developers, property owners, municipalities , and institutional or nonprofit clients, who can translate vision into executable projects and long-term, trusted client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning, Real Estate, Public Policy, Politics, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in real estate development, land-use planning, economic development related consulting roles, working with public and/or private clients, and working with Public Private Partnerships (P3).
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Strong relationship-building skills across both public and private sectors.
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly with technical staff, clients, elected officials, developers, and community leaders.
  • Experience working within municipal and entitlement frameworks.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Urban & Regional Planning, Real Estate, Public Policy, or a similar discipline.
  • Experience with mixed-use, transit-oriented, downtown, institutional, or redevelopment projects.
  • Prior involvement in business development, proposals, or client management for public agencies and/or private development clients.
  • Familiarity with development finance concepts, P3s, and funding strategies.
  • Leadership experience in civic, professional, or nonprofit organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, pursue, and help secure new business opportunities related to land development, mixed-use redevelopment, urban infill, and public-private partnerships.
  • Build and maintain relationships with private developers, property owners, investors, municipal staff, public agencies, nonprofit organizations, and institutional clients.
  • Support proposal development efforts for both public-sector procurements and private client pursuits, including pursuit strategy, teaming, messaging, and interviews.
  • Represent the firm in professional, civic, and industry forums to cultivate visibility, strengthen market presence, and generate leads across multiple client types.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients by understanding project goals, political context, financial constraints, regulatory considerations, and community priorities.
  • Lead or support land development and redevelopment projects for public agencies, private developers, or joint public–private teams, guiding projects through entitlement, approvals, and early design coordination.
  • Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with client objectives, delivery expectations, and contractual commitments.
  • Coordinate with planners, engineers, architects, public agencies, and community stakeholders to advance projects efficiently and collaboratively.
  • Support feasibility analyses, development concepts, public realm priorities, and implementation strategies for urban, transit-oriented, mixed-use, and institutional projects.
  • Navigate municipal processes, zoning and land use regulations, public approvals, capital budgeting, and stakeholder engagement for both public-sector initiatives and privately led developments.
  • Contribute to market strategy for urban development, downtown revitalization, and community-focused redevelopment initiatives.
  • Translate complex civic, political, and regulatory environments into actionable strategies for clients operating across public and private contexts.
  • Facilitate collaboration across public, private, and nonprofit sectors to unlock projects, align funding, and advance implementation.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior staff involved in planning, engagement, or development-related efforts.
