About The Position

Aspen Careers is partnering with a well-established national law firm with a strong Ohio presence to identify a Business Associate for its Columbus office. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 3+ years of corporate and transactional experience who wants to work on sophisticated M&A matters while also developing a broader business counseling practice. This role is not limited to traditional M&A work. The attorney will have the opportunity to advise businesses on transactions, contracts, negotiations, and day-to-day corporate matters while working closely with experienced attorneys and clients.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of corporate, transactional, M&A, or closely related business law experience.
  • Prior experience working on mergers and acquisitions and corporate matters.
  • Strong working knowledge of acquisition agreements and related transaction documents.
  • Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and corporate documents.
  • Ability to manage meaningful portions of transactions with increasing independence.
  • Strong legal writing, communication, organizational, and client-service skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail and sound professional judgment.
  • Licensed to practice law in Ohio.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with commercial lending, tax, or real estate matters is helpful but not required.
  • Genuine interest in developing both transactional and business counseling skills.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a mix of mergers and acquisitions, corporate transactions, and ongoing business counseling matters.
  • Advise clients on contracts, complex negotiations, transaction strategy, and other business needs.
  • Gain meaningful responsibility for drafting, negotiating, and managing key parts of sophisticated transactions.
  • Work directly with experienced senior attorneys who are committed to mentorship, sponsorship, and attorney development.
  • Build a broader corporate practice rather than focusing only on one type of transaction.
