About The Position

The Business Applications Developer designs, develops, implements, and supports internal business applications and automation solutions that improve operational efficiency, streamline workflows, and enhance decision-making. This hands-on role combines full-stack development with practical business problem-solving. The developer collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies, translate business challenges into technical solutions, and deliver user-friendly applications. The role includes taking ownership of projects from concept through deployment and using technologies such as artificial intelligence and automation to address business needs. The developer works across the application lifecycle, business process automation, systems integration, data management, application support, and continuous improvement. They build and maintain applications, integrations, and workflow solutions; support their secure, reliable operation; document and train users; and work with IT leadership and business stakeholders to prioritize development initiatives. Success in the role includes reducing manual work, processing time, and operational errors; delivering secure, reliable, scalable, and easy-to-adopt applications; moving solutions from prototypes to supported production applications; and continually identifying opportunities to improve workflows through technology and automation.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience developing, deploying, and supporting web applications, internal business tools, workflow applications, or comparable production software.
Strong hands-on experience with frontend and backend application development.
Proficiency in SQL and working knowledge of relational databases.
Experience developing and integrating applications using APIs.
Understanding of API authentication, data validation, error handling, and troubleshooting.
Experience with source control, testing, debugging, secure deployment, and application security.
Ability to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance existing applications and codebases.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to translate business challenges into effective technical solutions.
Experience collaborating with nontechnical stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver user-friendly applications.
Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and ability to review, test, debug, and maintain AI-generated code.
Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently manage development projects.
Strong communication, organization, and project ownership skills.

Nice To Haves

A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field is beneficial but not required; relevant hands-on experience and demonstrated technical capabilities are strongly considered.
Experience developing AI-powered applications or automated business workflows.
Familiarity with optical character recognition (OCR), document extraction, and intelligent automation technologies.
Experience integrating applications with ERP or warehouse management systems (WMS).
Knowledge of distribution, inventory management, or warehouse operations.
Experience working with NetSuite, IntraOne, or Microsoft 365 environments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, deploy, and maintain internal business applications, web-based tools, and workflow solutions.
Own the application development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, prototyping, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support.
Develop frontend interfaces, backend functionality, application workflows, and system integrations.
Translate business requirements into practical, intuitive applications for nontechnical users.
Build prototypes and minimum viable products to evaluate solutions before full implementation.
Maintain and enhance existing applications to improve functionality, reliability, security, and performance.
Partner with business leaders and employees to identify opportunities to reduce manual processes, duplicate data entry, delays, and operational inefficiencies.
Develop automation solutions for workflows involving spreadsheets, email, data entry, and disconnected systems.
Identify opportunities to use AI, optical character recognition, document extraction, and other emerging technologies.
Implement validation, exception handling, monitoring, and human review for automated processes.
Develop tools that improve data accessibility, accuracy, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
Integrate applications with databases, APIs, ERP systems, warehouse management systems, ecommerce platforms, and other enterprise technologies.
Collaborate with database and systems teams to ensure applications use approved data sources and established integration standards.
Develop and maintain application-specific integrations, backend logic, and data workflows.
Troubleshoot system connectivity, authentication, data validation, and application performance issues.
Coordinate with internal technical teams to align solutions with existing infrastructure and business systems.
Provide ongoing technical support, troubleshooting, and enhancements for internally developed applications.
Implement testing, logging, monitoring, version control, and secure deployment practices.
Maintain technical documentation, training resources, and support procedures.
Identify opportunities to improve application usability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Collaborate with IT leadership and business stakeholders to prioritize development initiatives and deliver solutions aligned with organizational goals.
Support application adoption through user training, feedback, and continuous improvement.
