About The Position

This role involves utilizing information management tools and various data sources to identify and resolve data governance issues. The Business Analyst will work closely with internal business users and clients (data owners) to address these issues, taking a hands-on approach to data governance. This includes creating baselines for reviews and audits, defining data governance requirements for data elements, and collaborating with data architects to integrate data governance into ETL processes. The analyst will also communicate the importance and benefits of data governance to various stakeholders, identify opportunities for improvement in data management systems, processes, policies, and standards, and partner with third-party vendors and internal teams. Establishing data governance metrics and reporting on their attainment is also a key responsibility.

Responsibilities

Utilize information management tools and various data sources to uncover and determine root causes of data governance issues.
Work closely with internal business users and clients (data owners) to resolve data governance issues.
Take a hands-on approach to data governance, creating a baseline for use in periodic data governance reviews and audits.
Define the degree of data governance required for all data elements and the values required for each element to support data usage.
Collaborate with data architects to incorporate data governance screening/tests for data elements into data sourcing processes (ETL).
Articulate the need for and benefits of data governance to vendors, client groups, system users, and other stakeholders.
Identify and leverage opportunities to continually improve the governance of data management systems, processes, policies, and standards.
Engage and partner with 3rd party vendors, internal development, and other parties as needed.
Establish data governance metrics and provide reports on metrics attainment.
