About The Position

Bishop Verot High School is seeking an occasional, as-needed bus driver and monitor to transport students. Hours vary according to the school’s transportation needs and may include morning, afternoon, and evening shifts. The position is located at Incarnation Catholic School in Sarasota, Florida, and is classified as hourly/nonexempt. The role reports to the Principal.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of a CDL B with Passenger and Air Brake Endorsements.
• Valid driver’s license and at least one year of school bus driving experience.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with students and parents.
• Must pass a Level 2 background screening, including an MVR check.
• Must pass pre-employment and random drug testing.
• Must complete fingerprinting and receive clearance through the Florida DOE Background Screening Clearinghouse, as required by Florida law for school-based positions.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport students to and from school, extracurricular activities, and field trips as scheduled or on an on-call basis.
• Follow designated routes and schedules to ensure timely arrival and departure.
• Ensure students’ safety and comfort while on the bus, following applicable local, state, and federal regulations and school policies.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip bus inspections and report maintenance or repair needs to the appropriate personnel.
• Handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
• Communicate with school administration and parents about delays or issues.
• Uphold and model the values and teachings of the Catholic faith in interactions with students, staff, and the community.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
