About The Position

Decker Truck Line, a family-owned company with over 95 years in business, is seeking an experienced Buildings & Grounds professional for its new Des Moines Terminal. This role is crucial for maintaining the appearance and functionality of the shop building and its surrounding grounds. The company has a strong track record of awards, including being named one of North America's Best Fleets to Drive For for five consecutive years, North America's 2025 #1 Large Carrier to Driver For, the "Elite Fleet" award in 2026, and the "Iowa Motor Truck Association Image Campaign" for community involvement. Decker Truck Line also received Hy-Vee’s “Transportation Supplier of the Year” Award. This position offers a great working schedule of Monday-Friday, 7 am-4 pm or 8 am-5 pm, with on-call duties as needed.

Requirements

• Previous directly-related experience
• Motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to lift up to 75lbs
• Valid Drivers License

Nice To Haves

• HVAC experience a plus
• Prior Overhead Door Maintenance a plus

Responsibilities

• Operate forklift, blowers, scrubbers, pressure washers and other tools and equipment as needed to clean and maintain the shop building
• Routine and extensive grounds keeping and custodial care including: Mowing the grass and landscape upkeep
• Snow removal when needed
• Light electrical and plumbing
• Sweep, mop, polish floors
• Paint shop areas as needed
• Clean and organize all areas as needed
• Restock supplies as needed
• Remove trash and recyclables as needed
• Special projects and other duties as assigned
