About The Position

The Building Services Staff play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment at the YMCA. Attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring high standards of cleanliness are essential for this position. The role involves fulfilling the YMCA's mission to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind, and body for all, and promoting the YMCA's core values and mission into all aspects of the job in the community.

Requirements

  • Works effectively with people of different backgrounds, abilities, opinions and perceptions.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have the knowledge required for successful operation; ability to establish and maintain harmonious relationships with staff, volunteer leaders, YMCA members, and the general public is essential; ability to network and engage internal and external customers.
  • Must be personable and demonstrate integrity and honesty.
  • Must be a team player, able to effectively relate to all levels of staff and management.
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills and written/oral communication skills.
  • Within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention (West Bend online).
  • Within 30 days of hire: Blood Borne Pathogens (West Bend online).
  • Within 60 days of hire: CPR and First Aid
  • Within 90 days of hire: Listen First and Y Welcome
  • Proficient in all standard business software including Google platforms and Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to swim effectively in order to demonstrate skills to participants.
  • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
  • Ability to lift equipment and to lift a small to average size child.

Responsibilities

  • Completes all duties listed on the cleaning checklist and maintains upkeep of assigned area and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to, wet and dust mopping, dusting, trash removal, window washing, vacuuming, cleaning of restrooms and toilets, locker rooms, offices, teen center, and other Y spaces, seasonal activities dealing with lawn care and snow removal, and general cleaning.
  • Operates related motorized and non-motorized equipment.
  • Records and reports all needed repairs; completes repairs as directed.
  • Ensures YMCA building and property is secure during shift and reports incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
  • Replaces soap, paper towels, and other supplies. Puts away cleaning supplies when delivered.
  • Performs laundry duties as needed.
  • May set up tables and chairs for events.
  • Knows appropriate emergency and safety procedures and proper exits for everyone in the facility.
  • Reports unsafe conditions immediately to supervisor or other person of responsibility if immediate supervisor is not available.
  • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures.
  • Completes incident and accident reports as necessary.
  • Helps with other YMCA functions and duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Builds relationships with members and building participants.
  • Exemplifies the YMCA core values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
  • Shows up for all scheduled dates on time and in proper attire (must have walkie-talkie on them at all times).
  • Participates as an active team member for overall advancement of the Association.
