About The Position

The Building Services Specialist plays a crucial role in maintaining the facilities at the Troy location. This position involves taking a lead role in the absence of the Facilities Director, managing various shipping and receiving duties, performing general building maintenance, and supporting special projects. The specialist will also be involved in groundskeeping, restocking kitchen areas, assisting with renovations, purchasing supplies, and coordinating food services for meetings. Additionally, the role requires supporting the Engineering and Creative Departments with prototypes and displays, managing event logistics, and contributing to safety and sustainability initiatives. Key responsibilities include managing inventory, performing repairs, coordinating with external service providers, and ensuring daily tasks are completed efficiently.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities including but not limited to lifting (50-80 lbs.), climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching.
  • Experience with Building/Facilities maintenance.
  • Basic skills with the use of hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to multitask, organize and prioritize.
  • Creativity and flexibility when it comes to creating prototypes.
  • Good communication and organization skills.
  • Must have Microsoft Office (word and excel) experience.
  • Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Take the lead role at the Troy facility in the absence of the Facilities Director.
  • Manage shipping for Customer Service, Sales, Consumer Goods, Shopify, and all other shipping requests.
  • Manage receiving duties.
  • Maintain inventory and warehouse storage for company products (on-site and off-site), including customer service parts such as lids, handles, latches, and springs.
  • Perform general building maintenance, including replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, and batteries, painting walls and making repairs, repairing toilets, door knobs, garbage disposals, sinks, and other building fixtures, and ordering and stocking tools and supplies required for maintenance tasks.
  • Coordinate and communicate with outside service providers for building maintenance as needed.
  • Perform outdoor building maintenance and keep grounds clean.
  • Manage seasonal responsibilities including shoveling and salting building entryways and maintaining landscaping.
  • Restock and maintain three kitchen areas daily as needed.
  • Support renovation and remodeling projects, including drywall repair, painting, furniture assembly, and office moves.
  • Purchase and return items to local stores.
  • Order, pick up (if required), and set up food for lunch meetings and special events.
  • Ensure all services and assigned tasks are completed daily.
  • Paint and prepare prototypes and special color samples using automotive coatings.
  • Serve as the Facilities representative on the Sustainability Team.
  • Transport, maintain, and organize on-site and off-site accounting storage boxes.
  • Assist with fabrication of custom shipping containers.
  • Support the Engineering Department by cleaning and preparing prototypes.
  • Assist in creating and repairing prototypes.
  • Assist with the Emergency Action Plan.
  • Serve as a Safety Team member with First Aid/AED certification.
  • Assist in constructing displays, props, or exhibit items for trade shows and Creative Department needs.
  • Manage preparation, inventory, setup, teardown, loading, and return logistics for the Housewares Show.
  • Assist other departments in meeting project goals as needed.
  • Add and remove employee access to secure entrance doors.
  • Manage Healthy Snack program.
  • Maintain and organize the MSDS sheets located in the Distribution Center.
  • Perform other duties as assigned (e.g., watering plants).
