About The Position

The Building Service Worker performs cleaning and building and grounds upkeep for an assigned school or building. The position is non-exempt and has 12-month terms of employment. Evening hours are determined based on the school assignment. The salary scale is AFSCME UA, Grade 3-4; no salary amount is provided.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read and write effectively.
• Physical capability to perform manual labor.
• Good verbal communication and human relations skills.
• Willingness to work overtime as required in emergencies.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and handle light-to-medium weights of 10–50 pounds.
• Good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard.
• Ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations.
• Ability to frequently sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.

Responsibilities

• Clean and care for floors.
• Collect refuse inside and outside the building.
• Dust and clean walls, windows, ceilings, and equipment.
• Care for the exterior of the building and grounds.
• Assist with receiving and relocating supplies and equipment.
• Maintain regular, on-time attendance.
• Perform related duties as assigned by the Supervisor of Operations or the School/Building Principal.
