About The Position

This position is responsible for maintaining all facility systems in a complete and thorough journeyman-like manner, using proper procedures, tools, and equipment. It involves performing routine and preventative maintenance on plumbing, mechanical, HVAC systems, and architectural features. The role also includes repairing damaged systems and components to ensure facility functions and a therapeutic environment are maintained. This is a full-time, in-person, and essential position within the Division of Facilities Management - South District, serving multiple state facilities in Pueblo.

Requirements

Four years of building maintenance experience as it relates to this position, including general maintenance and repairs in plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC, and general locksmithing.
State of Colorado residency at the time of application and throughout employment.
Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license.
Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
Must successfully pass Motor Vehicle Check.
Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
Must be available to respond in person to after hours calls via call back to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
Will be required to work various hours for coverage, weather related issues and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.

Nice To Haves

Relevant years of State experience.
Able to work and train people on advanced card access reader systems.
Basic computer skills: email, Google applications.
Knowledge of the tools used in this occupation (i.e. voltage meters, tube benders, pipe cutters, hand held snakes, etc.).
Knowledge of technology used in this occupation (electronic locks, appliances, etc.).

Responsibilities

Perform general routine maintenance functions in all Southern District Facilities.
Respond to work requests phoned into the maintenance dispatch desk during normal operating and after hours.
Inspect facilities and generate work orders for necessary repairs such as burnt out lights, leaking faucets, loose hinges, and damage caused by patients and staff.
Troubleshoot, repair, maintain, adjust, and make minor repairs to various types of locks (penal, residential, commercial grade).
Snake clogged sanitary lines using appropriate equipment, including unplugging stools, urinals, sinks, floor drains, and main sewer lines.
Repair residential, institutional, and penal fixtures (dripping faucets, running water closets, urinals), including replacement of parts like washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines, P-traps, handles, diaphragms, and vacuum breakers.
Perform electrical repairs, including replacing ballasts, lights, light fixtures, and light switches.
Secure/repair damaged windows caused by patients.
Adjust door hinges and door closures to ensure proper function.
Repair damage to facility finishes and systems, including walls, ceilings, roofs, floors, and accentuated systems.
Replace flooring material and coverings, including floor tile, sheet goods, wall base, and accessories; repair cabinet and countertop surfaces, including millwork hardware.
Apply paint to walls, surfaces, doors, casings, caseworks, gym floors, mechanical rooms, handrails, and bollards using spraying, brushing, or rolling techniques; perform parking lot striping.
Perform routine and scheduled snow removal and apply ice melt as needed.
Ensure work is done properly and to a high standard of excellence.
Assist other trades as necessary.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Respond in person to after-hours calls via callback to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
Work various hours for coverage, weather-related issues, and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.
