About The Position

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness (GLAD) is seeking a Building Maintenance professional to perform periodic maintenance, identify and resolve building issues, oversee outside service providers, manage projects, and maintain a preventive maintenance program. This role also involves standard cleaning tasks and ensuring facility security. GLAD is a private non-profit organization founded in 1969, dedicated to protecting civil rights and ensuring equal access for the deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled communities across Southern California.

Requirements

Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)
Excellent planning and technical skills
Must be able to communicate confidently
Outstanding analytical and problem-solving skills using fact-based objective orientation
Must be highly organized and be able to multi-task and meet deadlines.
Must maintain a cooperative relationship with co-workers, managers, directors, and the CEO
Must have a CA drivers license, reliable transportation and maintain up to date auto insurance

Nice To Haves

Building Contractors License (B-1 General Contractor) strongly desirable
Background as a building contractor is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

Perform periodic maintenance assignments including painting, drywall, and other building-related work.
Identify and react to building problems as they arise and resolve problems in a timely manner.
Oversee activities performed by outside service providers and vendors.
Maintain a preventive maintenance program for building and surrounding property.
Manage any ongoing building or property projects.
Develop strong partnerships with established vendors.
Document all maintenance work on building and property.
Keep up-to-date files on all equipment, scheduled maintenance, and emergency issues.
Perform standard cleaning tasks including dusting, trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, kitchen and bathroom duties, and basic window cleaning.
Ensure the facility is locked and secured after 5 PM Monday-Friday.
Perform other duties as assigned.
