About The Position

This position travels to various CDHS locations within the Southern District to repair, install, and maintain plumbing systems, buildings, and associated equipment in CDHS facilities. The Division of Facilities Management (DFM) is responsible for operating, maintaining, and managing CDHS facilities and campuses to ensure a safe, sanitary, and effective environment for clients, youth, residents, patients, consumers, and staff.

Requirements

  • At least three years of full-time plumbing experience that led to the Colorado Plumbing license (Journeyworker/Master).
  • Valid and active Journeyworker or Master Plumber license issued by the State of Colorado.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid non-restricted Colorado driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to submit and pass a full background check.
  • Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a document for a medical exemption or a letter for religious exemption.
  • Must successfully pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
  • Must be available to respond in person to after hours calls via callback to perform essential and/or emergency services without delay and/or interruption.
  • Must be willing to work various hours for coverage, weather-related issues, and essential/emergency services outside of normal business hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform troubleshooting, installation, repair, and maintenance on plumbing equipment and systems including pumps, temperature controls, hot water heating systems, domestic water systems, and sewer and waste disposal systems.
  • Perform journeyman plumbing work such as unstopping commodes, sinks, and floor drains, and replacing washers, seats, traps, valves, supply lines, handle stool seats, and related plumbing accessories and fixtures.
  • Repair and/or replace equipment, components, devices, or complete systems that are not operational, broken, damaged, outdated, or obsolete to ensure systems operate as intended or to increase efficiency.
  • Complete preventative maintenance checks and routine work orders, and are responsible for new construction, remodels, or modification of plumbing systems, including irrigation systems, and assist with project work as needed.
  • Maintain, test, and repair Life Safety Systems including fire hydrants, standpipes, and fire suppression systems.
  • Order and purchase materials, maintain stock in the warehouse, and clean vehicle, warehouse, and shop areas.
  • Perform new installation and/or renovation of water, back-flow, sewer, fire line, life safety systems, various mechanical systems, and fixtures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints.
  • Obtain and follow various material installation instructions, diagnose material failures related to maintenance work and problems, and research alternate materials.
  • Prepare records and perform accurate reporting with timely response on daily task sheets, leave slips, work order sheets, log books, inspection forms, purchase receipts, and other administrative forms as necessary.
  • Maintain stock in the warehouse and in their assigned vehicle.
  • Perform snow removal.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
