Building Maintenance/Plumber - Full-Time
About The Position
Lourdes Noreen-McKeen Residence is seeking a full-time Building Maintenance/Plumber professional for its faith-based, nonprofit short-term rehabilitation and skilled geriatric care facility. Compensation is $20 to $22 per hour, based on skills and experience. The schedule includes evenings as needed and every other weekend. The role also includes on-call coverage for maintenance response 24 hours a day according to the schedule, and may involve working beyond normal hours, weekends, and holidays or serving in other positions as needed. The position is responsible for following maintenance schedules and completing routine and unscheduled repairs, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and painting work. The employee maintains equipment in laundry, kitchen, and boiler rooms, as well as individual air conditioners. The position may temporarily perform Security Guard duties and may assist with resident evacuation during emergencies. Work conditions include frequent interruptions, interactions with residents, personnel, visitors, and government representatives, and possible contact with people who are hostile or emotionally upset. Work may involve cramped spaces, adverse weather, emergency call-backs, and physical tasks such as moving or carrying at least 25 pounds. Requirements
- High school or vocational school graduate, or equivalent.
- At least three years of building maintenance experience, including plumbing and electrical experience.
- Ability to speak and write English in an understandable manner.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift at least 25 pounds to a minimum height of 5 feet and move or carry that weight at least 50 feet.
- Ability to work beyond normal working hours, weekends, and holidays, and in other positions as needed.
- Ability to work in cramped spaces and adverse weather conditions when required.
Nice To Haves
- Courses in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, carpentry, drywall, or building trades.
- Demonstrated independent contracting experience in general repairs.
Responsibilities
- Ensure maintenance schedules are followed.
- Perform routine maintenance, including plumbing, plastering, electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and painting work.
- Maintain equipment in laundry, kitchen, and boiler rooms, as well as individual air conditioners.
- Perform unscheduled maintenance as requested.
- Perform Security Guard duties temporarily or as needed when required.
- Follow the scheduled on-call maintenance rotation and respond to calls 24 hours a day.
- Assist with resident evacuation during emergency situations when necessary.
