About The Position

Performs intermediate semiskilled and skilled work in a variety of building maintenance assignments. Does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision. The hiring salary for this position is $20.60/hour to $28.33/hour based on experience. The full salary range for this position is $20.60/hour to $36.05/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

Requirements

• General knowledge of maintenance, repair, and manual tasks of the area assigned
• General knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools required in the work
• General knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment required in the work
• Skill in the use of equipment to which assigned
• Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods
• Ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications
• Ability to follow instructions
• Ability to estimate needed material and time required for various jobs
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates
• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school
• One (1) to three (3) years of experience as a semiskilled or skilled worker in the maintenance, repair, painting, and/or construction activity to which assigned

Responsibilities

• Performs general building maintenance and repair activities
• Performs carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks
• Paints buildings, equipment and facilities
• Performs carpentry, electrical, masonry, drywall, mechanical, electronic, and plumbing repair and maintenance work
• Prepares surfaces for painting, paints walls, ceilings, doors, windows, cabinets, and equipment
• Frames and lays out work to perform carpentry tasks; repairs walls and furniture
• Installs and replaces receptacles and switches; pulls wire; installs light fixtures, ballasts, conduit, and computer wires
• Repairs plumbing facilities and fixtures
• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, refrigeration and air conditioning malfunctions; repairs electric motors
• Installs, services and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment
• Prepares, mixes, and matches various paints, chemicals, and additives
• Prepares reports, work orders, time sheets, logs, and records
• Designs painting projects, estimates materials needs, and purchases materials
• Prepares and installs signs
• Refinishes furniture
• Moves furniture
• Picks up and delivers furniture and supplies
• Prepares meeting rooms
• Assists with snow and ice removal
• Assists other building mechanics and custodians
• Performs custodial duties as assigned
• Performs related tasks as required
