About The Position

This position is responsible for performing routine repairs and maintenance of buildings, equipment, and vehicles, conducting groundskeeping activities to maintain and enhance the appearance of the property, and completing minor plumbing and carpentry repairs. The role involves performing routine building maintenance, minor plumbing repairs for issues like leaking faucets and clogged toilets, and carpentry work for wall repairs and painting. It also includes performing electrical work and preventative maintenance on Salvation Army vehicles, monitoring fluid levels, and maintaining the grounds by collecting debris and ensuring beautification. Additionally, the role involves assembling and moving office furniture.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • Two years experience operating an automotive vehicle, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs., as well as continuous walking, standing, stooping, and occasional climbing.
  • Ability to operate a vehicle safely, including driving in heavy traffic, traveling for extended periods, and overnight travel when required.
  • Knowledge of building and grounds maintenance practices, including routine repairs and the safe operation of maintenance tools and equipment.
  • Ability to safely operate passenger vehicles, follow safe driving practices, and meet Salvation Army driving and insurance requirements.
  • Knowledge of passenger transportation safety, including route planning, map reading, and time management to ensure timely arrivals.
  • Ability to learn through on-the-job training, follow instructions, and apply established procedures effectively.
  • Ability to perform strenuous physical work, including lifting, carrying, and moving materials and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform continuous physical activities, including walking, standing, stooping, and occasional climbing.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine building maintenance activities.
  • Performs minor plumbing repairs required by leaking faucets and clogged toilets.
  • Performs carpentry work required to repair dents and/or holes in walls and paints walls.
  • Performs electrical work.
  • Performs preventative maintenance of Salvation Army vehicles; monitors and replenishes all fluid levels.
  • Maintains the grounds to include collecting debris; maintains the beautification of the grounds.
  • Assembles and moves office furniture including chairs, desks, tables, bulletin boards, etc.
