CDM Smith•Manchester, NH

About The Position

The Building Information Modeler leads intelligent modeling efforts on complex projects, translating engineering concepts into coordinated, high-quality models and design drawings. With high-level goals provided, the role leads teams in preparing intelligent models, detail drawings, and general arrangement drawings of moderate to high complexity, applying practical engineering knowledge to unusual, complex, or original designs. The position also acts as an Intelligent Modeling Coordinator throughout project lifecycles to support coordination among design teams and help ensure accuracy, consistency, and quality. The role provides technical guidance to lower-level modeling personnel, reviews manufacturer and fabricator prints, determines material needs, performs calculations, and verifies intelligent model integrity. It also performs drawing crosschecks, provides conceptual input during planning, and supports or leads field assignments as required. Related engineering support includes plotting drawings, preparing transmittals and overnight packages, managing and filing project files and prints, distributing drawings, assisting with simple design calculations, coordinating specifications with drawings, and establishing design criteria for assigned project phases.
