About The Position

As a BIM (Revit – Virtual Design Construction) Modeler, you will provide modeling efforts for project delivery and standards and generate content for Prime Controls’ VDC team. Model content may support construction sequence planning, proposals, shop drawings, spooling, pre-assembly and pre-fabrication, safety orientations, and task planning. The position reports to and receives direction from project BIM team members and project-level management teams. The role includes receiving, processing, and archiving model files; developing model components from concepts through production-grade delivery; supporting sequencing and assembly communication; creating bills of materials and cut lists; reviewing work for quality; coordinating model elements with field fabricators; and participating in technological collaboration across project teams. Work schedules must be flexible enough to accommodate extended overtime or off-shift work when construction sequences change.

Requirements

At least 2 years of experience in the architectural, engineering, or construction (AEC) industry, or similar relevant manufacturing experience focused on production modeling and detailing using 3D model objects.
At least 1 year of experience in electrical work (including routing conduit, placing hangers, Unistrut racks and mounting, and electrical construction methods), virtual design construction, or similar relevant manufacturing experience in mechanical or plumbing focused on production modeling and detailing using 3D model objects.
Advanced knowledge and proficiency using Revit.
Working knowledge of Navisworks Manage clash detection.
Strong verbal, written, and electronic communication skills for responding to information requests and tasks.
Flexible work schedule to accommodate extended periods of overtime or off-shift work as construction sequences change.

Nice To Haves

Understanding of building controls systems, Instrumentation and Controls, Hazardous Production Material, Life Safety, and fire alarm systems.
Total Station experience.
eVolve Electrical experience.
3D laser scanning experience, including using point cloud data to help create a clash-free model and for as-built purposes.
Previous electrical field construction experience.

Responsibilities

Receive, process, and archive model files from designers, Prime Controls staff, and trade subcontractors.
Develop model components from ideas through prototypes, shop/approval drawings, and jigging or assembly concepts to production-grade delivery.
Assist in developing sequencing and assembly steps and graphically communicating them to stakeholders (4D).
Create bills of materials and cut lists, and support pricing and estimating efforts (5D).
Perform QC reviews of personally produced work before issuing it to other teams and assist with QA reviews of work produced by other modelers.
Facilitate the exchange and coordination of 3D model elements with field fabricators.
Participate in technological collaboration between Prime Controls project team members.
