Building Engineer I - Maintenance Department
About The Position
This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and operational tasks in the upkeep of District facilities. The Building Engineer I will perform preventative maintenance, respond to emergency repair needs, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of building systems. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. The Building Engineer I will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of parts and supplies.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
- Possession of a valid Nevada State Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
- Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice To Haves
- Vocational or technical school training in a related field.
- Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
- Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
- Respond to emergency repair needs and perform necessary repairs to restore systems to operational status.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with building systems and equipment.
- Perform routine inspections of facilities to identify potential maintenance issues.
- Maintain and repair building structures and grounds as needed.
- Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory of parts and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes.
- Assist with the installation of new equipment and systems.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
