About The Position

This position is responsible for performing a variety of skilled and semi-skilled maintenance, repair, and operational tasks in the upkeep of District facilities. The Building Engineer I will perform preventative maintenance, respond to emergency repair needs, and ensure the safe and efficient operation of building systems. This role requires a strong understanding of building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems. The Building Engineer I will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and inventory of parts and supplies.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in building maintenance or a related field.
  • Possession of a valid Nevada State Driver’s License.
  • Ability to pass a background check.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Vocational or technical school training in a related field.
  • Certifications in HVAC, electrical, or plumbing.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance on building systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and fire safety systems.
  • Respond to emergency repair needs and perform necessary repairs to restore systems to operational status.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with building systems and equipment.
  • Perform routine inspections of facilities to identify potential maintenance issues.
  • Maintain and repair building structures and grounds as needed.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of tools and equipment used in maintenance and repair work.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and building codes.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment and systems.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
