About The Position

The Juneau International Airport is hiring two full-time custodians to help maintain a clean and safe airport environment. Custodians work independently and as part of a small building maintenance team, caring for airport facilities and grounds and interacting with the public and airport personnel. The position offers an opportunity to gain experience in building maintenance, including operating and maintaining large janitorial equipment and properly cleaning and disinfecting public areas and restrooms. The schedule is Wednesday through Saturday, 1:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., with the work location in the Airport Terminal. Employment is contingent on passing the required TSA security check, including an FBI fingerprint-based criminal history records check, and continued employment requires maintaining a favorable security check.

Requirements

At least three months of janitorial and cleaning experience in commercial settings involving special cleaning products such as sanitizing solutions and solvents, or carpet shampooing equipment.
Valid driver's license at the time of appointment and throughout employment.
Ability to lift, carry, and maneuver 70 pounds.
Pass the TSA-required security check, including an FBI fingerprint criminal history records check, and maintain a favorable security check.

Responsibilities

Clean airport facilities and grounds.
Vacuum, dust, mop, sweep, and spot-clean surfaces.
Clean and disinfect restrooms and clean offices and break rooms.
Operate large floor-cleaning equipment on tile floors.
Pressure wash and clean windows.
Pick up and empty trash.
Respond to building maintenance calls.
Perform minor repairs to plumbing fixtures and change light bulbs.
Maintain the general cleanliness of the airport terminal building and adjacent areas.
Perform occasional special projects, including painting, meeting room setup, and escorting contractors.
