About The Position

Join our Siemens Smart Buildings Internship Program as a Building Automation Systems Project Management Intern in Summer 2027! This internship is designed for undergraduate students who are rising Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors. The program is 10 weeks long and offers full-time hours (40 hours/week) with multiple start dates in May and June 2027. The internship is located in Fairbanks, Alaska. Requirements

  • Must be current enrollment as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment.
  • Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May - July or June - August).
  • Must have own reliable personal transportation to travel directly to the project site.
  • This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.

Nice To Haves

  • Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Skilled in using Windows laptops and adept at learning new software for programming and troubleshooting automation equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Strong analytical, writing, presentation and critical thinking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish a project delivery plan.
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule, as well as coordinate needs with the project team, identifying time-sensitive installation needs.
  • Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to complete projects.
  • Participate in project cost reviews.
  • Track labor resources and project progress.
  • Pursue project-specific change-order opportunities.
  • Complete project-specific close-out documentation.
  • Rotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how our branch organization operates as a whole.
  • Rotate through various departments at the local branch office, focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure.
  • Spend 80% of time on project management-related activities (learning how to manage a construction project, on-the-job training, and shadowing, etc.).
  • Spend 10% of time with the sales department learning how we go-to-market and sell our solutions and services.
  • Spend 10% of time in our service department, focusing on the service-related tasks needed to deliver world-class service to Siemens customers.
  • Gain experience rotating through our core business segments, which include HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability Systems.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range for this position is $24 per hour for first-time Interns or $28 per hour for returning Interns.
  • Interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute into our 401K program.
  • Mileage will be reimbursed.
