About The Position

This 10-week internship program focuses on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure within the Siemens Smart Buildings Internship Program. The intern will gain hands-on experience, real-world skills, and valuable knowledge while developing professionally. The program aims to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help interns identify potential career paths post-graduation. Building Automation Systems (BAS) is a building management system that automatically manages and controls all systems within a building, including lighting, heating, cooling, ventilation, fire detection, CCTV, and more. Siemens offers BAS for all building types and sizes, designed to manage HVAC, lighting, security, fire safety, and other critical building functions.

Requirements

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate at an accredited 4-year U.S. college or university.
  • Pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment.
  • Ability to work 40-hours per week for the 10-week program (May - July or June - August).
  • Must be located within 50 miles of the office location with access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Skilled in using Windows laptops and adept at learning new software for programming and troubleshooting automation equipment.
  • Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to customers.
  • Demonstrated leadership potential.
  • Strong analytical, writing, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1 and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.

Responsibilities

  • Review project specifications, drawings, and project-specific documents to establish a project delivery plan.
  • Develop and maintain a project schedule, coordinate needs with the project team, and identify time-sensitive installation needs.
  • Manage the procurement of supplies and materials to complete projects.
  • Participate in project cost reviews.
  • Track labor resources and project progress.
  • Pursue project-specific change-order opportunities.
  • Complete project-specific close-out documentation.
  • Rotate through other departments within the branch office to learn about how the branch organization operates as a whole.
  • Spend 80% of time on project management-related activities (learning how to manage a construction project, on-the-job training, and shadowing).
  • Spend 10% of time with the sales department learning how to go-to-market and sell solutions and services.
  • Spend 10% of time in the service department, focusing on service-related tasks.
  • Gain experience rotating through core business segments, including HVAC, Fire/Life Safety, Security, and Energy/Sustainability Systems.

Benefits

  • Hourly pay range of $24 per hour for first-time interns or $28 per hour for returning interns.
