About The Position

Formlabs is seeking a motivated individual to lead a team of highly capable technicians in building and advancing their core hardware line of products. This role involves working directly with the engineering team on invention, development, and advancement of 3D printing technology. The work spans across all engineering disciplines with projects encompassing a wide variety of programs. The ideal candidate will lead a team to meticulously build prototypes, create specialty fixtures, conduct engineering tests, and support a wide range of engineering projects.

Requirements

• Experience managing a technical team of individuals.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent time management skills.
• An effective people manager who provides technical guidance, evaluation, mentorship and facilitates career growth.
• Have a wide background of hands-on skills ranging from fabricating experience, electrical experience, and prototype assembly.
• Experience in developing prototypes and making things from napkin sketches.
• Motivated and driven to promote excellence in work.
• Familiar with mechanical design, mechatronics, and CAD modeling.

Responsibilities

• Lead a collaborative team of technicians to undertake tasks across engineering teams to help rapidly iterate and advance new product development programs.
• Work with all programs leads to understand the top priorities and schedule requirements to ensure programs are staffed with technicians effectively.
• Be an effective people manager who provides technical guidance, evaluation, mentorship and facilitates career growth for team members.
• Hire new talent to match resources to the workloads of a growing company.
• Give clear technical guidance to direct reports to help solve problems and unblock day to day work.
• Own our internal Machine Shop, making sure that it is designed, run, and staffed effectively to help us develop products faster.
