About The Position
Formlabs is seeking a self-motivated Build Team Manager to lead a team of highly capable technicians in developing new technology and advancing core hardware product lines. This role involves working directly with the engineering team across various disciplines to invent, develop, and advance hardware products. The manager will lead the team in building prototypes, creating specialty fixtures, conducting engineering tests, and supporting a wide range of engineering projects.
Requirements
- Experience managing a technical team of individuals
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Excellent time management skills
- An effective people manager who provides technical guidance, evaluation, mentorship and facilitates career growth
- Have a wide background of hands-on skills ranging from fabricating experience, electrical experience, and prototype assembly
- Experience in developing prototypes and making things from napkin sketches
- Motivated and driven to promote excellence in work
- Familiar with mechanical design, mechatronics, and CAD modeling
Responsibilities
- Lead a collaborative team of technicians to undertake tasks across engineering teams to help rapidly iterate and advance new product development programs.
- Work with all programs leads to understand the top priorities and schedule requirements to ensure programs are staffed with technicians effectively.
- Be an effective people manager who provides technical guidance, evaluation, mentorship and facilitates career growth for team members.
- Hire new talent to match resources to the workloads of a growing company.
- Give clear technical guidance to direct reports to help solve problems and unblock day to day work.
- Own our internal Machine Shop, making sure that it is designed, run, and staffed effectively to help us develop products faster.
