About The Position

Riggs Tree Service is hiring an experienced Utility Bucket Trimmer for utility vegetation management and right-of-way tree and brush clearing. This is not an entry-level position. The role is for an experienced trimmer who can safely and efficiently work around utility infrastructure, operate an aerial lift, use saws, identify hazards, and contribute to a productive right-of-way crew. Experience working for a utility line-clearance or vegetation management contractor is highly desirable. The position involves trimming, pruning, clearing, and removing trees and vegetation from an aerial lift; working around energized electrical conductors; operating bucket trucks and related equipment; following utility specifications and work plans; and supporting crews with safe, efficient job execution. Storm restoration and emergency response support may be needed. Wages are negotiable based on experience, with top pay offered for top trimmers. Eligible employees may be able to access earned wages before payday through Payactiv.

Requirements

Real-world experience in utility vegetation management and right-of-way tree and brush clearing.
Hands-on bucket truck or aerial lift operation experience.
Experience with tree trimming, pruning, and removals, including work around energized electrical facilities.
Ability to use chainsaws, pole saws, hand saws, and tree-trimming equipment.
Ability to identify hazardous trees, limbs, and vegetation.
Knowledge of proper pruning and cutting techniques.
Experience with rigging and tree removal operations.
Ability to follow utility/customer specifications and work plans and participate in safe, productive crew operations.
Strong knowledge of electrical hazards and minimum approach distances.
Strong safety record and a reputation for reliability, hard work, and care for crew and equipment.

Nice To Haves

Experience working for a utility line-clearance or vegetation management contractor.
Extensive bucket/aerial lift skills and tree and brush clearing experience.
Strong chainsaw and pole saw skills.
CDL or ability to obtain one.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Experience with storm restoration.

Responsibilities

Perform tree trimming, pruning, clearing, and removals from an aerial lift.
Clear trees, limbs, and brush from utility rights-of-way.
Work safely around energized electrical conductors and utility infrastructure.
Operate bucket trucks, chainsaws, pole saws, and related vegetation management equipment.
Identify hazardous trees, limbs, and vegetation conditions that could affect utility facilities.
Follow utility specifications, work plans, and customer requirements.
Assist with rigging and complex tree removals.
Support storm restoration and emergency response operations when needed.
Complete daily vehicle, equipment, and aerial lift inspections.
Work with ground crews and leadership to keep jobs safe, efficient, and productive.
