About The Position

Riggs Tree Service is seeking an experienced Utility Bucket Trimmer for utility vegetation management and right-of-way tree and brush clearing. This is not an entry-level position; the role is for a trimmer with hands-on experience working around utility infrastructure, operating aerial lifts, using saws, recognizing hazards, and contributing to a productive right-of-way crew. Wages are negotiable based on experience, with top pay offered for experienced trimmers. The trimmer performs tree trimming, pruning, clearing, and removals from an aerial lift; clears vegetation from utility rights-of-way; and works safely around energized electrical conductors and utility infrastructure. The role also involves equipment and vehicle inspections, following utility specifications and customer work plans, supporting ground crews and leadership, and assisting with rigging, complex removals, storm restoration, and emergency response when needed. Requirements

Hands-on experience in utility vegetation management and utility right-of-way tree and brush clearing.
Experience operating bucket trucks or aerial lifts.
Experience trimming, pruning, and removing trees, including working around energized electrical facilities.
Experience using chainsaws, pole saws, hand saws, and tree-trimming equipment.
Ability to identify hazardous trees, limbs, and vegetation.
Knowledge of proper pruning and cutting techniques.
Experience with rigging and tree removal operations.
Ability to follow utility/customer specifications and work plans and work safely as part of a crew.
Strong safety record.

Nice To Haves

Experience working for a utility line-clearance or vegetation-management contractor.
Strong bucket/aerial-lift skills and extensive tree and brush clearing experience.
Experience trimming around energized utility lines.
Strong chainsaw and pole saw skills.
Knowledge of electrical hazards and minimum approach distances.
CDL or ability to obtain one.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Storm restoration experience.
A reputation for showing up, working hard, and taking care of crew and equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform tree trimming, pruning, clearing, and removals from an aerial lift.
Clear trees, limbs, and brush from utility rights-of-way.
Work safely around energized electrical conductors and utility infrastructure.
Operate bucket trucks, chainsaws, pole saws, and related vegetation management equipment.
Identify hazardous trees, limbs, and vegetation conditions that could impact utility facilities.
Follow utility specifications, work plans, and customer requirements.
Assist with rigging and complex tree removals.
Support storm restoration and emergency response operations when needed.
Complete daily vehicle, equipment, and aerial lift inspections.
Work with ground crews and leadership to keep jobs safe, efficient, and productive.
