About The Position

Riggs Tree Service is hiring an experienced Utility Bucket Trimmer for utility vegetation management and right-of-way tree and brush clearing. This is not an entry-level position. The role is for a seasoned trimmer able to safely and efficiently work around utility infrastructure, operate an aerial lift, use saws, recognize hazards, and contribute to a productive right-of-way crew. Wage is negotiable based on experience. Eligible employees may be able to access earned wages before payday through Payactiv, including as soon as their shift ends. Requirements

Experienced utility vegetation management and right-of-way tree and brush clearing knowledge.
Hands-on ability to safely and efficiently trim around utility infrastructure.
Bucket truck or aerial lift operation skills.
Tree trimming, pruning, and removal experience.
Experience working around energized electrical facilities.
Ability to operate chainsaws, pole saws, hand saws, and tree-trimming equipment.
Ability to identify hazardous trees, limbs, and vegetation.
Knowledge of proper pruning and cutting techniques.
Rigging and tree removal operations experience.
Ability to follow utility/customer specifications and work plans and participate in safe, productive crew operations.

Nice To Haves

Experience working for a utility line-clearance or vegetation management contractor.
Proven utility vegetation management experience.
Strong bucket/aerial lift skills and extensive tree and brush clearing experience.
Experience trimming around energized utility lines.
Strong chainsaw and pole saw skills.
Knowledge of electrical hazards and minimum approach distances.
Rigging experience.
CDL or ability to obtain one.
First Aid/CPR certification.
Storm restoration experience.
A strong safety record.
A reputation for reliability, hard work, and taking care of crew and equipment.

Responsibilities

Perform tree trimming, pruning, clearing, and removals from an aerial lift.
Clear trees, limbs, and brush from utility rights-of-way.
Work safely around energized electrical conductors and utility infrastructure.
Operate bucket trucks, chainsaws, pole saws, and related vegetation management equipment.
Identify hazardous trees, limbs, and vegetation conditions that could affect utility facilities.
Follow utility specifications, work plans, and customer requirements.
Assist with rigging and complex tree removals.
Support storm restoration and emergency response operations when needed.
Complete daily vehicle, equipment, and aerial lift inspections.
Coordinate with ground crews and leadership to keep jobs safe, efficient, and productive.
