About The Position

The Department of Economics welcomes applications for a BSU-GDUT Dual Degree Program Manager. This position provides oversight and coordination of Ball State University’s (BSU) dual-degree partnership with Guangdong University of Technology (GDUT), and is an excellent opportunity for an organized, proactive individual who enjoys working in a collaborative, intercultural environment and wants to contribute to a growing global education partnership. The Program Manager is an integral member of the program, entrusted with advancing the academic mission, operational excellence, and strategic growth of this international partnership. This is a full-time, on-site position based at BSU in Muncie, Indiana, and serves as the central point of coordination for program logistics, communications, and day-to-day operations. Working closely with the 3+1 Program Director, the manager supports faculty and students and maintains regular communication with GDUT and other key partners to ensure the program's operational success. The ideal candidate is highly organized, proactive, and service-oriented, with strong attention to detail and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. Success in this role requires the ability to manage multiple priorities, collaborate across units, and communicate effectively in an intercultural environment. This position is supported with program-generated funds and is contingent upon the continued success of the BSU–GDUT 3+1 program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Technological proficiency, including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and comfortable learning new systems related to student records and communication.
  • At least two years of related experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally across cultures with students, faculty, administrators, and international partners.
  • Willingness and ability to travel occasionally.
  • Provide occasional evening and weekend support for events/program needs.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license and be insurable under the university's auto fleet policy.

Responsibilities

  • Annual program reporting and strategic analysis: Research and author comprehensive annual program reports by analyzing program outcomes, enrollment and retention trends, academic and operational quality indicators, and stakeholder feedback. Translate findings into operational recommendations, including proposed policy and process changes to strengthen program quality and outcomes.
  • English language training and immersion programming: Assist the Intensive English Institute (IEI) in the development and delivery of English language training and immersion activities for first- through third-year dual-degree students at GDUT, supporting their preparation for transition to BSU. For fourth year students who have already arrived at Ball State University, design and manage academic readiness programming (such as workshops, peer mentoring, and guest speaker events) that supports their successful integration into the BSU academic environment. For participants in the BSU–GDUT summer camp, assist the Intensive English Institute (IEI) in delivering English language instruction and in coordinating college-led academic preparation programming tailored to the camp’s intensive format.
  • Visiting scholar grant writing: Research funding opportunities and author grant proposals supporting short-term visits by BSU faculty to GDUT under the visiting scholar framework. Draft project narratives, budgets, scopes of work, and institutional justifications.
  • Academic advising and student success: Advise program students throughout their first three years at GDUT on degree progression, academic planning, and preparation for transition to BSU. Identify at-risk students, design intervention strategies, and promote retention and academic achievement.
  • Program governance and operations: Work with the Program Director on program operation and the development of procedures supporting the program. Lead cross-unit operational initiatives by setting timelines and deliverables, coordinating implementation, and monitoring progress. Develop and present recommendations for policy and process improvements, and implement approved changes to advance program objectives.
  • Cross-cultural and co-curricular program development: Conceptualize, develop, and lead cross-cultural and co-curricular programming, including guest lectures, events, and academic excursions, designed to enrich the academic engagement of program students.
  • Budget planning and financial oversight: Develop the annual program budget in collaboration with the Program Director, monitor expenditures against strategic priorities, conduct variance analyses, and provide financial forecasting and recommendations to support program sustainability and growth.
  • Supervision of graduate assistants: Supervise graduate assistants supporting the program; assign and monitor work, provide training and feedback, and ensure tasks and deadlines align with program priorities and university policies.
  • Website / Social Media: Maintain program communication channels (website/social media) to support recruitment and stakeholder engagement.
  • Other: Perform other related duties as assigned.
