About The Position

The Brokerage Specialist position works on-site at the Ruan Campus in Des Moines Schedule: Saturday - Monday Hours: 12-hour shifts Brokerage Specialist builds relationships and negotiates with carriers to supply capacity for Ruan's customer freight and gathers information to collaboratively share with Account Management and Carrier Development teams to strategically target future business.

Requirements

Education: High School Diploma/GED, Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience in Supply Chain, Logistics, Marketing, Business, Finance, or related field.
Experience: 1-2 years experience in brokerage, customer service, operations, sales

Relationship cultivation and development is a must.

Responsibilities

Book freight with carriers through shrewd, market-appropriate negotiations that aim to produce regular capacity rather than one-off transactional bookings..
Proactively communicate load-level situations to CSRs, Acct Managers, and, as needed, Manager of Gen. Ops.
Gather carrier information regarding cap, size, lane needs, rate needs, etc. and funnel this information to our Carrier Development Team, Account Management Team, and full pool of brokers.
Consistently interact with a high number of carriers via phone / email in order to contribute data that will drive our load-level booking / decision-making processes.
Learn something from every interaction and inform our general team of the information gathered.
Communicate load bookings in the necessary format.
Perform other job-related duties and special projects as required.
