About The Position

In 1994, three visionaries turned a Bulletin Board Service with six modems and a 56k connection to the internet into a regional broadband powerhouse. Becoming a premier internet provider in the Rocky Mountain Region didn't come easy. It takes being as tough as the terrain. With a focus on rural service, Visionary has found a niche untapped by larger service organizations. In fact, this focus often means Visionary offers the service with the customer in mind and financial benefit as a distant second. Visionary Broadband seeks a qualified individual to fill the role of Broadband Access Administrator. This full-time position will join the team at Visionary Broadband, one of the top internet service providers in the Rocky Mountain region. Please note: We are only considering candidates who currently reside in the Gillette, WY area.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of telecom experience
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent organizational skills and must be detail oriented.
  • Good knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications, as well as ability to quickly learn and work within proprietary computer applications.
  • Flexibility to work outside of standard 8am-5pm hours, including ability to participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with demonstrated problem-solving abilities

Responsibilities

  • Access Point - Provisioning
  • Access Point – Firmware updates and frequency optimization
  • Access Point - Troubleshooting
  • Access Point - Load balancing
  • Wireless backhauls turn up/maintenance
  • Frequency coordination (5GHz/3GHz)
  • Frequency drawing (5GHz/3GHz)
  • Ubiquiti Air control ownership
  • Cambium CnMaestro ownership
  • Telrad Breezeview ownership
  • Ubiquiti UNMS ownership
  • Provision and Maintain GPON-based fiber optic networks
  • Identify and troubleshoot network issues, including signal loss, connectivity problems, or performance inefficiencies
  • Analyze test results and implement necessary adjustments or repairs to optimize network functionality
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks to ensure the ongoing performance and reliability of GPON networks
  • Maintain accurate records of installations, repairs, upgrades, and maintenance activities
  • Generate detailed reports outlining network configurations, test results, and any modifications made for future reference
  • Speed upgrade requests
  • Work order review
  • Participate in an on-call rotation. The rotation is typically one week per month but can change at any time due to staffing changes.
  • Assist installers calling in with regards to wireless and GPON issues
  • Other duties as assigned
