Bringup Electrical Engineer

WaabiPittsburgh, PA
Onsite

About The Position

As a Bringup Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for turning our custom electronics from a design file into road-ready hardware. You'll partner with our contract manufacturers to get boards built and then work with technicians to validate, program and assemble them, ready to be installed on our autonomous vehicles. You will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of our designs by designing test fixtures and working on Verification and Validation efforts. On top of all that, when something doesn't behave the way the schematic says it should, you'll be getting your hands dirty as the one with the soldering iron, the scope, and the terminal open.

Requirements

  • BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years in hardware development and/or test engineering.
  • At least 2-3 years in a formal leadership role.
  • You speak the language of CMs. You understand how to partner with them to deliver a high quality product.
  • You aren't afraid to get your hands dirty in the lab, but you have the strategic vision to step back and manage the high-level roadmap.
  • You are always looking for ways to improve our designs, our processes, and the ways we work.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with our Contract Manufacturers (CMs) to get PCBs and assemblies manufactured. You'll shepherd builds through fabrication, follow up on schedules, and flag issues before they become bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with our quality management team to develop controls and monitors of our embedded hardware products at various stages of manufacture. You’ll work with our technicians to inspect received boards for quality and workmanship issues, perform rework and hand-assembly as needed, test and validate boards and then integrate into their final enclosures. And of course, you’ll make sure we comply with our OEM partner and internal quality standards.
  • Track components, boards, and assemblies so the team always knows what's on hand, what's in transit, and what needs reordering.
  • Support vehicle end-of-line testing by helping diagnose and resolve board- and vehicle-level issues.
  • Work with our design and V&V teams to develop module end-of-line test fixtures, which you’ll then use to evaluate our designs under nominal and stressful environmental and electrical conditions.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and equity awards.
  • Health and Wellness benefits encompassing Medical, Dental and Vision coverage (for full-time employees only).
  • Unlimited Vacation.
  • Flexible hours and Work from Home support.
  • Daily drinks, snacks and catered meals (when in office).
  • Regularly scheduled team building activities and social events both on-site, off-site & virtually.
