About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior System Software Engineer to own factory bring-up of new platforms across board, tray, rack, and cluster levels. The role owns software from first power-on and works alongside hardware, firmware, diagnostics, and test engineering teams. The engineer designs factory workflows for firmware flashing across BMC, HMC, SBIOS, VBIOS, NICs, and other components, as well as version validation, security provisioning, and power-cycle recovery and retry handling. The goal is to achieve high first-pass yield at scale. The role also takes tools into partner factories, defining requirements with ODMs, CMs, OEMs, and CSPs, integrating NVIDIA tools into partner infrastructure, and validating them. The role uses AI coding agents to accelerate development, testing, code review, log triage, and bug filing, and builds reliable pipelines for these uses. When production stations fail, the engineer traces issues across hardware and software stacks to identify and resolve root causes.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data center firmware, platform software, or factory/manufacturing test software.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in EE, CS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Proven track record building factory or data center automation, such as firmware flashing, diagnostics orchestration, provisioning, or log collection.
  • Experience with out-of-band management for large-scale server deployments.
  • Strong Python skills for building production tools and orchestration frameworks.
  • Working knowledge of C/C++, shell, and Linux systems.
  • Solid knowledge of hardware interfaces including PCIe, USB, and SMBus/I2C.
  • Experience debugging servers during early bring-up.
  • Experience working directly with ODMs, CMs, or CSPs during NPI, bring-up, and volume production.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with ambiguity, own problems end to end, and work across time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rack-scale or multi-node GPU systems, including NVLink switch trays, rack-level diagnostics, or compute/switch tray bring-up.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing diagnostic frameworks and factory test stations.
  • Experience designing resilient factory workflows that improve first-pass yield and reduce line downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Own software bring-up of new platforms in the factory at board, tray, rack, and cluster levels, beginning with first power-on.
  • Work with hardware, firmware, diagnostics, and test engineering teams.
  • Design factory workflows for firmware flashing, version validation, security provisioning, and power-cycle recovery and retry handling.
  • Work with ODMs, CMs, OEMs, and CSPs to define requirements, integrate NVIDIA tools into partner infrastructure, and validate the tools.
  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate development, testing, code review, log triage, and bug filing, and build reliable pipelines for these workflows.
  • Trace station failures across hardware and software stacks, identify root causes, and fix issues to unblock factory production.
  • Drive high first-pass yield at scale.
