Senior System Software Engineer - Factory Bringup

NVIDIA•Santa Clara, MA
•$184,000 - $287,500

About The Position

NVIDIA is hiring a Senior System Software Engineer to own factory bring-up of new HGX, MGX, and DGX platforms across board, tray, rack, and cluster levels. The engineer will serve as the software owner from first power-on and work closely with hardware, firmware, diagnostics, and test engineering teams. The role involves designing factory software flows for firmware flashing across BMC, HMC, SBIOS, VBIOS, NICs, and other components; version validation; security provisioning; and power-cycle recovery and retry handling. The objective is to achieve high first-pass yield at scale. The engineer will also work with ODMs, CMs, OEMs, and CSPs to define requirements, integrate NVIDIA tools into partner factory infrastructure, and validate those tools. The position includes applying AI coding agents to development, testing, code review, log triage, and bug filing, and building reliable supporting pipelines. The engineer will diagnose failures across hardware and software stacks, identify root causes, and resolve issues that interrupt factory operations.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in data center firmware, platform software, or factory/manufacturing test software.
  • BS, MS, or PhD in EE, CS, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A proven track record building factory or data center automation, such as firmware flashing, diagnostics orchestration, provisioning, or log collection, and out-of-band management for large-scale server deployments.
  • Strong Python skills for production tools and orchestration frameworks, plus working knowledge of C/C++, shell, and Linux systems.
  • Solid knowledge of hardware interfaces including PCIe, USB, and SMBus/I2C, and experience debugging servers during early bring-up.
  • Experience working directly with ODMs, CMs, or CSPs during NPI, bring-up, and volume production.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to work with ambiguity, own problems end to end, and work across time zones.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with rack-scale or multi-node GPU systems, including NVLink switch trays, rack-level diagnostics, or compute/switch tray bring-up.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing diagnostic frameworks and factory test stations.
  • Experience designing resilient factory flows that improve first-pass yield and reduce line downtime.

Responsibilities

  • Own software bring-up of new platforms in factories across board, tray, rack, and cluster levels, starting from first power-on.
  • Collaborate with hardware, firmware, diagnostics, and test engineering teams.
  • Design factory flows for firmware flashing, version validation, security provisioning, and power-cycle recovery and retry handling.
  • Drive high first-pass yield at scale.
  • Work with ODMs, CMs, OEMs, and CSPs to define requirements, integrate NVIDIA tools into partner infrastructure, and validate them.
  • Use AI coding agents to accelerate development, testing, code review, log triage, and bug filing, and build reliable pipelines for their use.
  • Diagnose failures across hardware and software stacks, find root causes, and resolve factory station issues.
