About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior SBIOS Firmware Engineer to help customers bring NVIDIA platforms to life, from initial system bring-up and reference platform qualification through deployment at scale. The role works across firmware engineering, platform architecture, and customer enablement, helping build reliable production datacenter platforms and using AI tools to accelerate development and resolve complex system problems. The engineer develops, integrates, and debugs SBIOS firmware for NVIDIA datacenter reference platforms and customer systems. They support customers, OEMs, and ODMs with platform bring-up, qualification, integration, and deployment; investigate issues across firmware, hardware, BMC, and operating-system boundaries; and partner with engineering and customer teams to take issues from reproduction and root cause analysis through verified fixes and adoption. The role also establishes validated firmware configurations, documents platform behavior, develops diagnostic tools and automated tests, and communicates technical findings and resolution plans to internal teams and external partners. The position requires a relevant bachelor’s or master’s degree or equivalent experience, at least five years of relevant experience, server SBIOS/UEFI development and debugging expertise, strong C programming skills, and experience using Python or shell scripting. Hands-on use of AI tools in engineering workflows is expected, alongside the judgment to independently verify generated code and conclusions. Base salary ranges are $152,000–$241,500 for Level 3 and $184,000–$287,500 for Level 4. The role is eligible for equity and benefits.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong experience developing and debugging System BIOS/UEFI firmware on ARM or x86 server platforms, including familiarity with EDK II architecture.
  • Solid understanding of server architecture, including processor initialization, memory systems, PCIe, interrupts, boot flows, and interactions among SBIOS, BMC, and the operating system.
  • Ability to diagnose complex system issues using firmware logs, operating-system diagnostics, hardware interfaces, and structured experiments.
  • Experience supporting server bring-up, platform qualification, or customer deployment, with ownership of technical issues through resolution.
  • Strong C programming skills and experience using Python or shell scripting to build diagnostic tools and automate engineering workflows.
  • Hands-on experience applying AI tools to software development, debugging, testing, or technical analysis, with the engineering judgment to independently verify generated code and conclusions.
  • Understanding of server reliability, availability, and serviceability (RAS), firmware security, and production datacenter requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to collaborate directly with customers and partners and drive progress across global engineering teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Proven experience enabling customer deployments of NVIDIA CPU or GPU server platforms, from early bring-up through production.
  • Deep expertise in ARM server architecture, UEFI, ACPI, SMBIOS, or firmware interfaces with Linux.
  • Experience debugging issues spanning SBIOS, BMC, and platform management interfaces such as IPMI, MCTP, and PLDM.
  • A track record of building AI-assisted engineering workflows that measurably improve debugging speed, software quality, or customer support efficiency.
  • Experience turning reference platform designs and lessons from customer deployments into reusable tools, documentation, and validation coverage.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and debug SBIOS firmware for NVIDIA datacenter reference platforms and customer systems.
  • Help customers, OEMs, and ODMs bring up, qualify, and deploy NVIDIA platforms by resolving firmware issues, guiding platform integration, and translating deployment requirements into engineering improvements.
  • Support reference platforms across the product lifecycle, establish validated firmware configurations, document platform behavior, and make solutions reusable across customer designs.
  • Investigate complex issues across firmware, hardware, BMC, and operating-system boundaries, including boot, hardware initialization, PCIe enumeration, memory configuration, performance, and reliability.
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, software, validation, and customer engineering teams to drive issues from reproduction and root cause analysis through verified fixes and customer adoption.
  • Use AI-assisted development, debugging, and automation to analyze logs, accelerate root cause investigation, improve test coverage, and turn recurring support problems into scalable engineering solutions.
  • Develop diagnostic tools, automated tests, and technical guidance that improve platform readiness and help customers deploy and operate systems successfully.
  • Communicate technical findings, risks, and resolution plans clearly to internal teams and external partners.
